I've been searching, but haven't found anything yet describing the exact difference between the iPaq 4155 and the 4150.

There is no difference other than the sales channel they are sold through. The two model numbers refer to the same piece of hardware. There may be some slight difference in the packaging and bundled software but I can't be 100% sure on that.

My 1940 didn't come with Resco File Explorer as promised, but some 1945 units did. Search around to see what different software you get on the 4150 and 4155.

I've got the 4150 and Resco File Explorer is the only difference I've been able to find. At some point when I was researching this model, I read somewhere that this program was included so I was surprised it wasn't in the package. It turned out that it only comes on the 4155. The actual hardware is identical from what I've seen.

I'm really glad somebody asked this question since I've been searching all over the place for the answer. Just ordered a 4155 tonight (to replace the defective X30 I can't seem to get replaced :()

The 4155 has the following "free" on the CD and I don't claim to know what all of them do  . Some are freebies elsewhere.

Hey. You just made me feel better. I struggled over an X30 or a 4155. And went 4155. This thing is sweet.

Thanks for delineating specifically what's on the disc. It'll be very helpful.

Just got my 4155. Compared to the x30 (624), I had it's just a hair slower but I really like the form factor and, of course, the fact the thing works! Now to really try to learn PPC (longtime Palm user)

I also discovered this when i got my 4150, but luckily I discovered that you can get Resco Explorer at a heavily reduced price (14.95$) for some units including the 1940 & 4150: http://www.resco-net.com/oem/explorer.asp

I don't consider this a stupid question. I did know the difference between the two. I understand why HP did the different model numbers.

What I do NOT understand is why they cannot make it easy to find drivers for their "recent" iPAQs if you do NOT know that the models are essentially the same. I discovered this awhile back while looking for driver updates. Here's what I mean: I went to www.hp.com and clicked Support & Drivers. I clicked the option to Download Drivers and Software.
In the model number box, if I tried recent the "5" models (i.e. 5555, 5455, 2215, 4155, 4355) it comes back "No matching products found" and lets me search again. If I try the "0" models (i.e. 5550, 5450, etc.) it selects the machine I want. I just tried this again tonight to make sure they hadn't fixed it.

Okay, I knew to do the search on the "0" model. What about folks that don't? Sorry for the rant...
