What's that X30 you say?<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/marlof-may04-dellx30.jpg" /><br /><br />I would have mistaken its picture for a X3, but the specs (especially the first two) are different, since it has a 312MHz Intel*XScale Processor with WMMX, and it runs Microsoft*Windows Mobile 2003 <b>Second Edition</b>. It comes with 64MB SDRAM in RAM and 64MB Intel*StrataFlash memory in ROM, and has Bluetooth, 802.11b and Consumer IR integrated for your wireless connections. It still has a QVGA (320x240) display, and one SDIO capable expansion slot. You can get all of this for the price of Aus$ 499 which converts to a little more than US $ 343.

We will have it here. Wherever you are. It's just that this is the first of a new batch of devices that will run the latest version of the Windows Mobile software. Some devices might even be upgradable to Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PC Second Edition.

Might I also add that as an introductory offer, Dell are offering a free 64MB SD memory card with the A$499 price tag. So if you're looking to get your hands on one of these devices, do it quick and you'll get a free bonus.

it uses PXA272 chips, which has 32bit memory bus. I hope it can be a little bit faster than 312Mhz PXA270 chips.
But who knows, mitac mio558 uses 32bit memory bus too, which is much slower than other 400mhz PPC.

Im in the US. My complaint is that I'm hearing that I wont be able to get my SE upgrade until july or later. IN all seriousness, this is hard to comprehend how Dell would have Second Ed. on a new device, but heaven only knows when any OEM would have it available in the US. Wasn't Toshiba releasing a free upgrade for it like amonth ago? I remember someone saying that a rep told them the download would be up that week.
I'm not sweating over not having SE, but it's obnoxious that these pocket pc manufacturers aren't doing crap in advancing the technology of our pocket pc's. where are all these 512 MHz processors? All these VGA screens, and USB host capabilities? And what about those peripherals I was going to be able to use on my 2215, that go into those holes????
I know, I know, they're all coming, right?

Just logged in and got into the configurator...http://dellstore02.dell.com.au/public/cart/configurator.jsp?prd_id=220546
Only an extra $AUD44 to go from 64MB card to 256MB - I've gotta do that!! Only $88 for a keyboard. Is that good value?? The Stowaways for my Jornada were always more than that.
Spare battery for $17 - is that right? Spare 1800mAH for $26 - huh! Leather case for $17.
My Jornada died when I went to the US a few weeks ago - I think the XRAY machine might have killed it. This looks like my perfect opportunity to update.
