Well, there is Autonote for the Pocket PC which was made way way back... and it does a little more than that... it even uses the time stamp as a file name which makes it easy to track down notes by their file name...

which was last updated last 2001!!! 8O
Anyway it still works for the WM 2003 devices... you'll have to edit the *.ini file though to get it working... it's part of the config and it's in the read me file.

Is this for a program? If so, asking in the Developer Forum (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=30) would probably be better.
If not, just go to the Today screen and use the New action to create a new note. Make sure the Menu settings applet's New Menu tab has been configured to allow new notes.

Thanks ppcsurfr that does what I need. I am looking for a way to modify the shortcut to launch with a new note. Like :MSNOTETAKE %1 or something like that

Is this just to get into a new note faster? If you're doing a regular drawing or typed note, you already have to be using a stylus, so is starting Notes and hitting New really that bad?

Not at all I just like to know if I can add var/ialbes. This would open up more possibilities than just launching a new note.

I've been trying to figure out what the keys in \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai do exactly. They seem to be places that a shortcut can point to without pointing to the executable directly. This would allow changing a program name without breaking all of the shortcuts to the program.
What I don't understand are what the 2 (DWord), 3 (DWord) and 4 (eight-byte binary string -- basically another DWord) keys do. I'm guessing they are parameters passed to the executable, but I'm not sure.
A :google: search on "Pocket PC" registry rai didn't find much. Do you have any idea?
Steve
Yeah, I tried messing with those values and got nothing.
