I installed pocket plus 1.3 on my ipaq 1940 and have since found that it caused lockup while the pda was connected via activesync to the desktop.

I have since uninstalled it but not all my reminders don't make alarm noises and every so often a reminder is accompanied by a dialogue box sayign "can't find filesys.exe"

I traced this back to pocket plus and i can't figure out how to get my pda back to normal! anyone with advice?

Thanks!!!!

mr_yellow, You might not want to hear this, but one way is to back up all your data in your My documents folder and write down or screen-capture your settings/preferences. Then do a hard-reset (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25724) of your iPAQ.

This is also a good time to check and see if any of the applications you bought were updated. It is also a good time to do a rom update (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/20508.html) if you haven't already done so. (your info doesn't say where you are from so this is the US link)

Then you can go about reinstalling your apps, then restore your data, and you have a clean iPAQ plus any temp files you didn't know about that were taking up space will also be removed.

anyone with advice?

Have you tried to contact Spb Software House? (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/about/contact.html?en) I would try that first!

I had the same problem and fixed it by looking through all the files on my PPC and deleting all references to Pocket Plus.

Hard reset? No thanks.. not yet at least... I already did the 1.10 rom update.. thank god it worked.. i was surprised how many people had their PDA's bricked by the rom update...

I've tried emailing SPB software house but havent had a response in 3- days.

Piperpilot: What files are you talking about exactly? did you go through the registry as well?

Yes, I went through the registry as well. I was mainly looking through the program files and windows files. I don't remember specifically where I found the files that were mucking things up--it was a long time ago--but my guess is that it was in the registry.

mr_yellow, I had the same problem with Pocket Plus locking up 2003, but I didn't have any trouble removing the program. However, I did anticipate an issue with my alarms, and reset everything under "Sounds & Notifications" either prior to removing Pocket Plus, or first thing after.

That's a moot point. If an SE upgrade is offered, there's a 99.99% chance you'll have to hard reset after it anyway.

When I said kill Rex, I wasn't refering to a hard-reset, it gets that every now and then, whenever I feel like it, or do a ROM update. I was refering to having to send Rex back to HP, I know its rare but everytime it doesn't happen I'm happy.

Though XIP install/update to SE would be cool, but it doesn't seem feasable since it is a totaly different OS. Not to mention that event though patches can be XIP I haven't heard of any that are. So if you can't do a simple patch, why expect a whole OS update, right?
