Is HP dropping the 5550 & 5555 :?:
Everyone is out of stock along with the HP store.
HP said they have no comments on their out of stock status??? :?
I had my sites set on this model, should I look elsewhere?

My completely unsubstantiated piece of speculation is that the 5500 series will be the last of the iPAQ product line that support expansion sleeves.

Since the 5500 was released last year, all of the new products either released or pending release from HP have not supported sleeves.

I hope I'm wrong.

I got a note from a HP reseller saying that the 5550 had gone "end-of-life" and that the 4150 was the current replacement model. The 4150/4350 are nice but my 5550's 128MB RAM is incredibly useful for me.

I agree - we need more devices with 128 Mb RAM, not less....

This will reduce the range of 128 Mb machines to just the XDA2/MDA/iMate/whatever and the really expensive vertically targeted devices (like the Ike).

I do prefer the small form factor over the memory though....

I don't want to give up the the 128MB, and I definitely don't want a smaller screen; actually I wish they'd come out with a model with a 4" screen.

I keep bouncing between my 4350 and 5555 but for the past month I've been using my 5555. D$mn that 128 megs of ram :).

I was beginning to think the same thing; that HP was going to discontinue the 5555. They finally received shipments to the Dallas area stores and I did a TAP exchange on my 2215 for one. The HP website now shows them to be in stock, which would contradict the "end of life" thing.

I expect that in the next six week we'll see a bunch of new HP devices..... and the end of the 5500 series... not to mention jackets.

Just my 2c.
