My iPAQ 2200 series PPC refuses to record more than 192 seconds per file when using the notes recorder built into ROM can anyone please Help me?

Try a third party application... I believe that NoteM.. might work for you... I don't use dictation sofeware but I hear good things about this app and its free.

thanks it took some google-ing, which led me back to PPCT in 2003, I'll try it out tomorrow

Have you been saving the long files to a storage card? There's only so much space in main memory. I've got a 640.9 second trashcan drum performance (ala Stomp) on my CF Card which I recorded with Notes while shopping in Downtown Boston

yeah, I tried both SD and CF nither would allow it, they had loads of free space, the device had a decent amount of ram and storage ram available

Well I did record it before upgrading to ROM 1.10. Haven't used it since. Let's see... what else could be different? I didn't name the file 'til after the recording was finished. I used rename in file explorer not using the note field to apply a subject. I've had just about every media player on my device at one point.

I can't explain it but your 2215 should be able to do the same. :|
