View Full Version : Faulty 4150 Screen?

I've just purchased a 4150 and have been playing around with it. The screen seems to be very spongy, ie if you touch the screen with the stylus there seems to be alot of 'give', and when the unit is off you can actually see the screen bounce back when the stylus is lifted up again. I used to have a 2210 and the screen had a much firmer feel to it.
Is this normal for the 4150, or do I have a faulty product? I'm reluctant to return the unit unnecessarily because:
a) The retailer won't have any units in stock again until 22nd May
b) If I return the unit and buy another elsewhere it will cost more as most online retailers here in the UK with stock have put their prices up over the last couple of days.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks!

mine seems to do this too. I only realize it when its off. However, it does not seem to cause much toruble and I think this is the way they are made

To overcome this, I recommend a good screen protector, eg WriteShields, Boxwave, Overlay Plus.
Your screen will feel much nicer as well!

Thanks for the advice - its looks like I just need to get used to the screen. I've put on a screen protector to see if it helps - the type I'm using is by PDair, which I think are a cheaper version of WriteShields, that I bought on eBay a while ago. The sponginess of the screen is hardly noticable now.
Does anybody know why the screens on the 2210 seem so different? Did HP switch manufacturers or materials?

not to spoil your fun but it's sorta defective.. it's not spose to do that. My iPAQ 2215 did that and i had an unrelated screen problem which got replaced under warranty and they replaced the film too and when it came back it' was perfect no give... I also notice that on my new 4155 there is none of this lil "bubble" effect either. while it didn't make a difference when i had the 2215 i just rather having it like this.. feels smoother. :-D

My screen have same effect but it just soft film on digitizer plus it reflecting a lot. After I got Exim I just enjoy my screen, except yellow effect of cours.
That is best screen protector wicth I ever seen and it worth that money witch they asking.
