Which is better for taking down and organizing both handwritten and typed notes on the PPC, Tombo or PhatNotes...or something else entirely?
Tombo is free and simple. I'm not very familiar at all with PhatNotes. Can you all make a couple of suggestions? Are there other tested and well liked alternatives that I have completely missed here? These seem to be the two names that I see batted about the most.
Any help is very greatly appreciated.

Phatnotes currently doesn't handle handwritten notes except as file attachments to notes. This might eliminate it from the running.

I'm sorry can you explain that one to me Jacob..? It doesn't handle handwritten notes other than as an attachment, I am not sure what you mean.

Well, Jacob~
What if you have handwritten notes that were originally created with the standard notes app that comes built into the PPC OS...would you be able to at least use PhatNotes to be able to organize, file and categorize those notes?

Phatnotes stores notes in its own database. They aren't the same as the notes that are available in pocket outlook. Phatnotes on the PPC can't and won't read Pocket outlook notes.
Their standard edition, I think, exports their notes to Outlook.
All notes created by Phatnotes are not drawn or handwritten notes. You can attach a file or something to it as a link. I.e. if you use their product Phatpad you can link a handdrawn note created by it to the note created in Phatnotes.
I'm not sure how clear this is.

I think I follow what you're saying.
In that case, this means that Tombo is actually going to be a better choice for me, since it can read/handle Pocket Outlook notes, and I already have a boat load of Outlook & text notes that I wouldn't want to have to re-create.
Plus, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that Tombo will let you do either typed or handwritten formats.
Thanks so much for your help!

adb notes is realy what you want.
i use heavily because
-tree view structure makes logical organisation
-voice, handwriting and text input
-capable of file linking
-link with outlook tasks
try and you wont be sorry

There is also dNotes... that will allow you to create different types of notes... This is what I was using... I am now trying out PhatNotes... and PhatPad...

PhatPad works well if you like to use handwritten notes, why not also try Calligrapher with PhatNotes (Phatnotes integrated with Pocket Informant and has many features)
