<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.jgui.net/gps/gpswait/' target='_blank'>http://www.jgui.net/gps/gpswait/</a><br /><br /></div>"This program exchanges the position point from the GPS by the SMS cellular phone network. You can find your friend and see his/her position on the map or satellites photo. Now you can check where and how far he/she is away from your current position. This program is dedicated to use with Pocket PC Phone Edition devices. But this is not a limit. If both side (you and your friend) have Phone Edition with connected GPS Receivers, all runs automatically. Just in one touch of screen. If somebody has not a Phone Edition, but only GPS Rx and any type of cellular network phone. Then the position can be send by the manually edited SMS. The Phone Edition device will receive this message and automatically put to the map - no special manipulation need. Best of all: every Phone Edition device can display up to 10 friends in one map, independently."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20040426-JGUIWAIT.jpg" /><br /><br />This looks like a cool use of Phone Edition's messaging functionalities. What I'd <i>really</i> like is the ability to support cell tower-based GPS (this requires an attached GPS solution) -- while that would be more approximate, having a solution that would work with just the Phone Edition device would be potentially very useful -- but that's probably dependent on the carriers. In any case, you can download a 7-day trial version or buy a copy from <a href="http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=119621">Handango</a>. [Affiliate]

While this sounds like a great piece of software and a nice concept - this developer is becoming known for poor execution.

I have purchased and used a couple of Phone Edition pieces of software from this company in the past and it was Hard Reset Hell!!

I bought the photo caller ID software they had and set specific ringers for specific people and my sound went haywire.... my reminders wouldn't sound off.... all sorts of problems. I missed a bunch of calls. I even had problems getting rid of it with a hard reset!

The help/directions were in broken English (just like the quotes/comments at the beginning of this thread)which made it even harder to correct.

If this software is anywhere near as buggy as the previous stuff.... then I would stay away!!!

However, if there is some willing soul.... with enough guts to take the risk - let me know how it turns out! :D

Could be useful for finding out where one's spouse is.

Surur - what do you have against the average joe being on an assault team?

I'll wait to see some reviews of this before my friends (who have PPCPE's) think about getting it. JGUI's performance in the past hasn't been what I like to see in a software house.

I would think this would have to be mutual. As in you can't use it as a stalking device - both PPCs have to have it turned on.

At least I would hope so....
