Hi,

I did the 5550 ROM update and noticed the "Turn off flight mode" wording for turning on wifi (as stated by others in an old post). Can anyone tell me what this phrasing is supposed to denote specifically? Seems to be a weird choice on the face of it.....

Thanks!

Many airlines prohibit transmission of wireless signals while in flight or during takeoff/landing. Most devices are using this now instead of "turn off radio" or some such wording, as it is assumed this would be the only time you would ever want to disable your radio. Makes sense with GSM or CDMA cell traffic, but not really with wifi.

If you have a phone in your PPC or a cool phone with games on it and you still want to play them, you have to turn off your transmission to your service provider to make it safe bla bla bla.

The only problem is that it just drives the hostess' crazy!

dale coffing had an mpx200 on a plane. He was using it for mp3s, and the flight crew and passengers needed an explanation every 5 minutes

Time for a sign that says "Its radio is turned off" and an arrow to tape on the overhead luggage door.
