I just bought a 340MB Microdrive that was refurbished. For some reason it only wants to format the drive at 124MB instead of 340MB. I am at a loss as to why it's stuck at this MB limit? The card reads and writes without any issues other then that it won't format past 124 megs.

Anyone familiar with these drives that could help a fellow PPC user out?

I tried both formatting the drive in my PC and on my PPC with FlashFormat without any change.

If you know how, try formatting it using the command-line format command on a PC and see if it says anything about bad sectors, etc. It's possible that the unit is defective. :|

I'm thinking the unit is defective. When I format it from the command prompt it sees the drive as 125 megs. No bad sectors found though. I didn't pay all that much for it, less then what a 128 meg SD card costs.

Does sound like that to me. Did you get a 90-day warranty along with the refurbished product?

Also, when you say "less than 128MB SD", do realize that flash CF cards are also considerably cheaper than SD. :)
