Hi,
I have an iPaq 4150. I have set up a pop mail account in Pocket Outlook (the same account that is also set up on my PC), so that I can download my mail remotely when I'm out and about.
The problem is, I set it to only download email manually, and in the ActiveSync settings, email is unticked on the list of items to sync, but when I put my iPaq in the cradle, it downloads any email sitting there waiting to download.
Any idea how I can stop it?
I also seem to have two inboxes on my iPaq. One is the pop box that I set up, and the other is called "ActiveSync" - what's the difference between these?

I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong here :D but does your PC have an always on connection to the internet? If so I am guessing that the problem is a result of your PPC using the internet pass through feature of activesync to check your email account itself.
when I set up an email account on my Jornada, by default it will try to check my email every 15 minutes when connected. I use this feature and the internet pass through to get my POP3 emails when I am at work and the Jornada is connected to my work PC. I do this rather than have my personal email accounts checked by my work Outlook set up.

Yes, my work PC has an always-on internet connection, but how do I stop this from happening?
I went into the connection settings in ActiveSync to not allow the Pocket PC to use the internet connection, but it's still downloading email to the Pocket PC when it's in it's cradle!

The problem is that there's multiple kinds of email Inbox can handle -- ActiveSync-based email is only one of several types -- and that's why you have multiple folder hierarchies. If you've set up a POP3 service in Inbox, it doesn't listen to the sync settings.
The good news is people have apparently found workarounds. Read this thread (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4573) -- you may find it helpful -- in particular, this post (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=37409#37409).
