Looking For My Best Japanese Friend (Actually, my girlfriend is)

My girlfriend was browsing Ebay last night and came across this Hello Kitty GSM phone that she absolutely fell in love with. The price was a bit high, and she kept bugging me to ask "that message board you post to with the people from around the world" to see if anyone could find it cheaper and privately sell it to us. I know its a long shot, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Unfortunately, you've got multiple problems.

1. The phone is GSM 900/1800, which means it'd work in Europe, but not North America. :(

2. What I don't get is how it could be available from Japan. Japan doesn't use GSM at all. :|
