Will you change a 5450 for a 4150?

Hi, I have an iPAQ h5450 with WM2003 and I'm thinking about changing it for a brand new h4150.

What do you think?

How's h4150 battery life compared to the h5450? Does the h4150 has better battery administration?

How's the Wi-Fi range? Is it better?

How's the construction, does it feel cheap in the hand?

About the Windows Mobile 2003 SE, will it have the upgrade for free?

I thought about doing the same thing, in fact I brought both a 4150 and 4350 to replace my 5555. In the end iI found myself using my 5555 more than the 4300 or 4100. To me the 5555(and 5455) had a better feel in my hand that the 4150 and 4350. Wifi signal performance the 5555 was slightly better than them but wfi throughput on the 5555 was much much better than on my 4350 or 4150. It all depends on what you need. I needed expansion so the 5555 was better for me but I kept the other ipaqs for days when I need to travel lighter. BTW this was posted via a 5555 :lol:

The 4350 is the best when it comes to battery life. I've never seen a ppc get so much use out of a single charge. Using a bluetooth gps I was able to go through an 8 hour work day non-stop and by the time I finished the battery had 32% charge remaining. Not bad for all day use with bluetooth, the 4150 gets about the same battery life as my 5555. Once you turn on wifi the usage rate drops very quickly across the board but the 4350 still wins in that category.

Too many, I think I have more ppc's here than Comp-USA have on display. I did finally get rid of my ipaq 3650 about a month ago, I went to my cousin who was looking to get into pda's.

Not very fair to compare low power bluetooth useage with high power wifi useage.

Reread his post. ;) He doesn't compare Bluetooth against WiFi, he compares them across the board. The 4350 has the highest-capacity battery of the three, so it has the longest battery life. The 5550 and 4150 are pretty close, although I'd guess that the 5550 has slightly longer life with WiFi due to the fact that the 4150's battery is smaller.

One other criterion, BTW: the screen on the 5550's is slightly better. Larger, and less of a tendency to yellow.

Pepe: if you're paying for this 4150, I'd wait. So many new, interesting devices are on the horizon. :)

I really don't see the point of having both the 4150 and 4350 as they are , save for size, thumpad and screen identifical devices. Unless you are a serious PPC collector, or plain rich. 'Hmm, today I think the 4350 would fit well in my large pocket.'

I just got an offer of US$500 for my h5450... and here (in Argentina) I can get a h4150 for US$550... What should I do?

Should I change it? Should I wait for a very expensive VGA device?

I would wait to see what comes over the horizon but if you really need it now i'd go for the 4150. The performance of the 4150 is much better than the 5455 so it would be a good upgrade. I use different devices for different things, most of my old ppc's I sell to family members(helps populate the family with ppc's and get them to stay away from palms :wink:).
