Well, I have a palm device that I use, and it recently started making a really high pitched noise when I turn it on. I read about this at bright hand, and apparently it's... Some phenomenon of the led lights in the screen. This is a tungsten | E that I use.

Well, do any ppc's do this? I don't get why they all don't... Aren't led's just led's? I suppose not. But wow, this is annoying. It's loud enough that I can't use it in a quiet environment, because the sound is so prominent. This is crazy

And it suddenly started happening too, so that was weird. I really hope palmOne doesn't give all of their hardware users these phenomenon led's, because they are super annoying.

But ultimately I'm curious if this problem has come up for anyone using any other device? I'm sure it's not limited to this device... It's ridiculous, how loud it is.

I've only seen this in my old Handspring Visor when I turned the backlight on. I have never seen/heard this on a PocketPC.

This happend on some pocket pc's too, it not from leds it's from the dc-dc converter which drives the backlight.

Some PPC's do this but usually they will repiar it, luckilly the 4150 I have is silent. I fell your pain I had a T3 that would give me headaches. They tried fixing it, but every time it came back it would be the same. I finally gave up and sold the darn thing.

ahh thanks Steve. what a bad deal, I guess I'll just deal with it. I don't feel like sending it back to palm, because it'll just be gone for a few weeks and I'm fairly sure I'll recieve a similar problem in a new device.
