Not sure if I'm trying to do more than what is possible, but here we go!

I have a Jornada Pocket PC that I use religiously for work and personal information. I sync it daily with my work pc, and usually every few days for my home pc. My husband just purchased a Dell Axim, which he plans to use the same way I use mine. I set up the home pc to recognize his Axim, and went through all of the contact and calendar items to label them with the appropriate catagories.

There are some catagories that I want in my ppc, and some he wants in his. For some reason, the rules established for my ppc are overwriting the rules I set up in his ppc (when I sync mine at home first) and vice versa if he sync's his before me.

Does this mean that we both have to sync everything the same?

I tried to discribe this as clearly as possible... I'm open to all suggestions!

I haven't synched between two handhelds, but if you are using the same outlook database, then catagories probably are overwritten.

I went through this a few months ago. I wanted to sync to my work PC then sync just the personal stuff to my home PC. I found out it can't be done. If you use categories to sync you have to use the same set up on both computers.

I think there is a way around this by buying 3rd party software like intelesync (sp).

I have no trouble sync'ing my work pc with my home pc through my PPC. And my husband can sync his work PC and his PDA. Is the problem that ActiveSync can't handle the home pc which already has my PPC profile?

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised. I've never tried, but my guess is the best way around this would be to have two separate user profiles on the computer itself. Have you tried that? Or is it too much hassle?
