I mean't to ask if anyone knew when HP would be coming out with it. Specifically for the 4155.

Some people say May... others say June or July. I guess it really depends on how smoothly the development process is for creating a reliable installation for the 4155.

I have heard no official date or confirmation. Believe me, when we do, you'll hear about it on this site. ;)

Thanks for the info. I hope it's in may :) These are some of the features I have been waiting for.

I haven't been using HP products for long, so does anyone know if a major update like this is likely to be supplied on the HP support web site, or do you think we'll have to order a CD? I understand that users who wanted the 2002->2003 update had to get it on CD, but I may be misinformed.

I do hope we can download it straight from their site, and for free :D

Nobody knows, and speculation is only going to cause people unnecessary worry. As soon as HP gives the word, everyone and their brother will be posting it on the net.

hey be cool, nobody knows anything and as janag said even if a rumor is out then this is the first place that you can learn about it.
and for the price of the update i dont think that hp will sell this to us, these devices are not out-of date!

I agree... I hope it's a download as well. Do these updates generally need ActiveSync to install, or can you generally install OS updates without using ActiveSync?

For previous ROM updates released by HP, they typically need ActiveSync installed on the machine to start the process.

You'll need ActiveSync to install the OS update. There are certain platforms that will be supported with the SE edition, but not all of them. For example, I've already heard that the 19XX series won't get the update because it doesn't have enough RAM to support the OS. And some of the Ipaqs will get the update for free (2215 is a BIG candidate for a free upgrade) while other users will have to pay.
But nobody will really know for sure until it's out.

Thanks for your help... I guess I'm going to have to get my hands on a PC for the future upgrade.. :)

I think this is still one big myth! As far as I know, the 1940s have the same amount of RAM as the 2210s and the 4150s! Check out the posts here:

they have enough RAM .. and enough ROM.. then 1945 that is.... same as the others so it should be able to but the others only have 16MB of ROM instead of 32... ROM is where the OS is installed so the ROM is the more important of the 2 when it comes to upgrades such as this.. :-D
