When I create a document with PocketWord that contains only sentences of text and bullet pointed lists and try to convert this to a .doc file via activesync for view on MS Word 2003, it works perfectly well. Everything shows up as it should on MS Word.

However, if I were to copy this unmodified .doc file back onto the ppc, the spacing and paragraph formating of the file is modified and looks really bad.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Here's an example:

Firstly, we have what the document looks like when created on pocketword:

Now the document has been transferred to my pc and back to the ppc again via activesync (which has also converted it from .psw to .doc back to .psw):

I have also tried turning off the conversion from .doc back to .psw in activesync when copying the file back to the ppc without any luck.

Any suggestions??

This isn't really going to help your problem, but it sounds like the formatting snafu happens when Activesync converts your .psw to .doc. It probably converts font size for easier viewing on the desktop.

Have you tried to save the file as a .doc on your PPC first. You can then transfer the file without letting activesync auto-convert it.

Good idea, I'm gonna go give it a try.

Wow! It worked!! Your're a genius!

By saving it as a .doc file on the ppc and not using activesync to convert anything solved the whole problem :-)

However, by saving it as a .doc file really eats up memory (1.5Kb vs. 6.5Kb). I create several files a day so this will all add up. Also, it is slightly time consuming to have to goto tools->save as.

Is there possibly another solution? If not, is there a way to make PocketWord defaultly save files as .doc instead?

There is a third party piece of software TextMaker which exists both on PPC and Windows. It's a full featured word processor for either platform which can be set to default to saving as Word, Pocket Word or its own internal format.

TextMaker is very good for editing full Word docs which require all their formatting to be kept intact. It allows all the stuff which Pocket Word leaves out such as named text styles, embedded graphics, full page layouts etc.

I haven't checked comparative file sizes and TextMaker is slower and more complex to use on a PPC than Pocket Word. However, there is a trial version available. Look at http://www.softmaker.de/index_en.htm for more details.

Hope this helps
