http://www.oqo.com/

I've been waiting for this moment for months: Pocket PC Thoughts is now OQO Thoughts, and I couldn't be happier! :D The people at OQO sent me one of their units in September 2003, and I wasn't expecting to be very impressed. Was I? No. I was blown away. 8O The OQO is an amazing device, superior to every Pocket PC I own, in every way. Boasting a 1 Ghz processor, a 20 GB hard drive, 256 MB of RAM, 802.11b WiFi, Firewire, USB, and Windows XP, the OQO is the next generation of handheld computing. With the OQO I am no longer held down by the limitations of the Pocket PC. Sure, it might take 60 seconds for me to look up a phone number, but I can run Neverwinter Nights on it! Can you believe it? As a young boy I often dreamt such a dream - unfettered power in my hands, and the shiny green button down in the lower left corner. I love that shiny green button.

I hope you'll join with me on this new journey of discovery as we unwrap the bountiful mystery that is the OQO. This is just the beginning.

Jason Dunn
Visionary Founder
OQO Thoughts

PS - I'm writing this on a next-generation OQO unit that should be shipping by April 1st of 2005 - it has a 3.2 Ghz CPU, a massive 120 GB hard drive, and a full gig of RAM. Pricing will be a little high ($5000 USD), and battery life is somewhat short at only 1.1 hours but it's still way, way cooler than a Pocket PC, even it costs ten times as much. Break free of your chains my former Pocket PC brethren! Join the revolutionary OQO brotherhood, even if it means getting a second mortgage on your home to buy one!

How much should I ask for this domain?
Well, it's probably not *really* worth something until the OQO comes out...

I had to dump my cache in order to see the new logo. Ha ha ha. I think that promising "daily news" may be pushing it a bit for a while, at least until the thing actually ships. Unless you are going to publish the same headline every morning...

Some great OQO pics. It's great to see the OQO getting the attention it deserves. I'm waiting for the model 2 though. Rumor has it it will have 1GB of RAM and uses Transmeta's newer, higher performance Efficion line. It's gonna be hard to resist the initial launch of the model one in June though. :|

Great one - unfortunatly it beats ou pyre as the best I've seen so far today.
The OQO is becoming a star:
"The OQO computer will make its first tv show appearance on the Fox series 24. It was filmed last night and will air on episode 20 sometime in April or May. (It could end up in another episode as well.) For those of you who watch the show that will be the 8:00am - 9:00 a.m. episode. It was hard to know how much screen time the OQO will get (probably just a few seconds), but it went off without a hitch and looked very good on camera. The tech/production guys loved it and want to give it a more prominent role (with car mount) next season.
The scene itself involved the bad guy (Steven Saunders) at his command and control desk with multiple monitors and an OQO. One of the monitors has the same image as the OQO. He is on the phone threatening the good guys and using the OQO on the desk. He then removes it from the cradle, looks at a schematic map on the device, finishes the conversation, closes the screen and takes it with him. Apparently he will be using it in the field at the next filming on March 15.
The show CBS CSI: Miami is also looking at adding it in to the end of the season. There will be a new CSI NY series starting in the fall that is very interested in using an OQO as a key part of their investigators' gear.
It's late in the season to be added to a show (filming is generally Sept-mid May) so it's exciting that people are so enthusiastic about the OQO computer that they are including it in at this point. This past Friday I was in the 24 prop guy's office and he decided on the spot to replace a Palm device with the OQO and that's how we ended up filming yesterday.
I'll let everyone know when it is going to air, and I'm going to try to get a copy to put on OQO-work."

Maybe the site should focus on daily speculations for a while? Or maybe daily daydreams about the device? Daily satires?

now I know why I stayed in bed this morning... Good one though Jason... Happy April Fools Day!!! :D
Only 1.1 hours for battery life!? That's really bad.
The FlipStart at least could do up to 4 hours. Also, the FlipStart had a way to bring up instant contacts and calendar ala PDA-like. Then the FlipStart was half the price. Hmm...

"Hey, it's April Fools Day! I need to go check PocketPCThoughts!" Is how I started my morning.
Good show, Jason & Fabrizo! :way to go:
Come on Jason, get with the times! Since Microsoft killed off the Handheld PC, everyone knows that those little keyboards are too small to use! You got'a have a touch typable keyboard. That's why this is my new PDA:

This just in: I've just been handed a very thin volume labelled "The Book of OQO". It's very thin, almost transparent, like mist or vapor. It says:
And lo, the prophet did descend from the highrise built on the souls of expired venture capitalists, and he said unto them, "OQO is the new way, the new light in your lives. You are the chosen ones who have been chosen to build this new machine.
I have only two commandments for you. First, make it heavy. Second, make it slow. No, wait, three commandments. The third is to make it run really really hot. And I want it to make milkshakes, too. Wait, is that five commandments? Hang on a second, let me check my OQO....hang on, it's still booting up. *divine whistling and foot tapping* Any minute now...oh dear, it's caught on fire."
Thus ends the Book of OQO.

OK, ya got me... I logged on to my email this morning to get the two notifications from Jason regarding the OQO. I read through the notes and thought to myself "I've never heard of this thing". Then, I following the link to the web site, then next thought was "OK, what does this do to all the reviews I'm doing on Pocket PC stuff".
It took me about 10 mins to realize "Oh yea... it's April Fools day".
One for you, Jason!

Pinch and punch? As in physically do so? Why? Is that an American April the 1st tradition?

Not that *I* know of. But I think he's from Canada. ;)
On St. Patrick's Day, I've heard of being pinched if you're not wearing green.
But punching :?:
As to my knowledge the OQO is a rebirth of an upvamped Psion. Unfortunatedly not always the best survive.
I hope you all had a Happy April Fools day
