After playing with TextMaker for a while, I decided to uninstall it. After doing so, all my .doc files on the ppc have lost their pocket word icon. they now display the generic “unknown file type” icon. however, if I opened it, it opens successfully in pocket word. if i look at the file's properties using resco explorer, it lists the .doc files as “unknown type.” The default .psw pocket word files still have their proper icons.

How can I reassociate the pocket wd icon with .doc files?

Cheers steve.
Just one little problem, do you know the number that corresponds to the proper icon?

e.g. pword, (insert number here)

pword.exe,-110 (from Ed's post)

110 is for .txt files, not .doc files, that's why I had to ask here. Can you do me a big favour and have a look in your registry?

If you uninstall TextMaker through the regular process (call up Control Panel>Add/Remove Software on your _Windows PC_), the file associations are restored to the correct values.

Unfortunately it seems something must have gone awry despite me having uninstalled it using that process. It's not that big a problem now that I know how to fix it, however I still need to know the number that corresponds to the right icon :-(

There's a program called PocketTweak (http://tillanosoft.com/ce/ptweak.html) by Tillansoft that let's you assign file associations easily.
