can i trick to use the main battery first then ex plus
'coz i have a big microdrive and i store everything in there
but once the ex plus battery die then i can't use the card no more
is getting an extended battery the only way to keep my cf card alive?
i have a h5555 now and i didn't have that problem with my 2215
thanks in advance

Unfortunately, from what I've heard, this might be standard behavior for the 5xxx series. :( Have you tried running it without the extended battery at all?

o i just tried last night
i took the ex plus battery out
and i think i still able to use the cf slot
but i'm not sure is that it didn't detect instantly
or it'll go away after awhile
'coz i didn't test out long
so how does this thing work actually?
thanks,
soda

I never had this problem with my 3870, so I'm afraid I'm not going to be of much help in resolving this.
One word of advice: if you need to do heavy CF access, avoid the Microdrive -- it's a real battery hog. The CF+'s battery helps, but as you've seen, it's still hindered by the Microdrive's power requirements.

i have the plus
and microdrive for big storage
but why do i get the critical message when i still have 40%
and died at 20% on the plus slim battery
it died way too fast for the cf slot
i just got the extended battery for plus
i'll see how it go
but now my pda look bulkier than ever
or maybe thinking of carry 2 slim ones
*sigh*

Unfortunately, as I said, the 5xxx iPAQs don't use the external battery optimally. An alternative seriously worth considering is to retire the Microdrive and to use flash memory, which has much lower battery consumption.
