How strong is the xdaII IR port?

Is it as strong as the old Ipaq 3970?

As I was planing on loading some Remote Control software and using it as a remote?

All feedback is appreciated!

Why don't you download the software and try it out!

Most companies have a demo/trial version (usually identical with the licensed version) that you can use for a couple of weeks to test it.

the IR is pretty strong however, it isn't the issue. The transmitter does not support consumer IR and therefore cannot be used as a remote control. Sorry!

What do you think about the "Total Remote" that uses the audio signal instead of the basic IR.

Tried it on my xda i and it worked alright (not great), and it doesn't work at all on my xda ii - might be something to do with the conversion from 3.5 to 2.5 mm jack (I have an adapter). Perhaps email Griffin Tech. and ask them if a specific kind of adapter is needed (i.e. I have a stereo adapter, perhaps mono?)
