IPAQ Backup came with my pocket pc. Is that sufficient to backup my files? Why would I want to use Sprite Back Plus instead?

iPAQ Backup is an OEM version of Sprite backup, released specifically for certain iPAQ models.

In short, it should do the trick for you. Sprite's website has a good feature comparison that may help you as well. (www.spritesoftware.com)

For me, the big thing that is missing from iPAQ backup is the ability to back up to your desktop PC. Backing up to memory is OK but doesn't work if you have a lot of stuff on your iPAQ.

Plus, the upgrade to Sprite Backup Premium Edition is only $10. ($8.50 if you're a Pocket PC Thoughts subscriber). I just bought my upgrade last week and love it!

I always wondered why I would want to upgrade... the version found on my Hp2210 is more than enough for what I need... and I transfer my back-ups manually to a folder on my desktop so all in all it works well for me.

Note that the premium edition comes with two other utils.

1. PocketMon - a today screen app that I use and I like a lot actually.

2. Space Detective - an app that allows you to see what folders/files are taking up all the space on your storage card and device.

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the audible notification of when a scheduled backup's been done? I have mine set to run at 3AM and it wakes me up occasionally when I forget to mute the 2215 before going to bed. I didn't see the option anywhere in the HP OEM version.

Thanks,

- Ray

This isn't an option in Sprite Backup. I think it's a system event that you'd have to disable the sound under your global settings.

On Sprite's site, there's a page that offers free upgrades to users of select iPaq handhelds (including the 4155).

http://www.spritesoftware.com/upgrades/upgrade_ipaq.html

However, the page says:

To obtain your free upgrade please refer to either the companion CD that was provided with the device, or the Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade CD if your device operating system was upgraded. Only devices eligible for the free upgrade will have the upgrade information on their CD.

Does anybody know where I can find this information on my CD? I can't locate the information anywhere.
