I know a lot of my other techy friends are fans of Monty Python, so I thought there would be quite a few in here. I saw on Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/03/25/1354225) that Life of Brian is being re-released in the US.
Dolemite_the_Wiz writes "The BBC reports (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3563405.stm) that Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079470/) will be re-released, with the remaining Python troupe's full support, in US theaters next month. The Film's Distributor, Rainbow Film Company are marketing the film as an alternative to all the hype that Mel Gibson's film 'The Passion of the Christ' has generated. Trailers for the Film will begin running in theaters on Good Friday. Wait until Biggus Dickus hears about this!"
According to the BBC article, trailers will begin running in theaters on Good Friday (after looking that up it is April 9th). I can't wait to see this in theaters, just out of curiosity, did anyone here see it in '79 when it originally opened?

I didn't see in the theaters, but my wife did. Needless to say, I'll be seeing it this time around. One of the very best movies made, in my humble opinion.

"He's NOT the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

As a matter of fact: we are going to have an "off site" IT meeting for the release at work (last time this was done was for "Revolutions")...

Oh, and yes, I saw it when it first came out...Brilliant!

I can't wait! I just wish they'd re-release "Holy Grail"!

They did that back in 2001 (http://dir.salon.com/people/feature/2001/06/16/jones_cleese/index.html) when the DVD (with 23 extra seconds) was released. It was awesome.

Look.. I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was "That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah

you're only making it worse for yourself

worse? how can it get any worse? Jehovah Jehovah...

Great flick, and as a devout Catholic I feel the need to say: Anyone who thinks this is a horrible movie because it pokes fun at religion - lighten up - I know you had the same thoughts as shown in the movie when you stood in church and heard it in the readings.

a nine bladed sword! not two, not five, not seven bladed.. but nine!

I couldn't help but crack up at:

"WHat did he say?"

"He said the meek will inherit the earth"

"Well, that's good. The meek really don't have much, you know"

"blessed are the peace makers"

"Who?"

"I believe he said blessed are the cheesemakers"

"What's so special about cheesemakers"

"Well, its not exclusive, it applies to any dairy manufacturer"
