Can anyone point me to a press release that confirms that the 3955 users are left in the wilderness?

I haven't seen a press release, but if you scroll to the bottom of this page (http://www.ipaqabilities.com/reviews_articles/articles/0304-windows_mobile_2003_se.php), you'll see what an HP rep said about the upgrade... :(

3955 came with Pocket PC 2002, .... you were upgraded to WM 2003 ... now that doesn't mean you should get WM 2003 SE cuz that's 2 upgrade levels and each PDA only gets on i've noticed so far... so only devices that came with WM 2003 (except 19XX that have 16MB of ROM which is too small) will get upgrade option.

(not cuz your device can't run it... hell Jason showed the 3600 series could run WM 2003 just fine - but because HP wants to make more money off you. Odds are your device is out of warranty anyways.. this upgrade would give you a new 90 day warranty or something like that... now why HP would wanna pay for that?)
