With all this hype about SE I'm wondering when we will see a PPC that is set up hrizontal. I currently have a few games that automatically go horizontal and playing them with my left thumb (Right handed/HP 2215) is rather irritating. I do not really play games that much so thats not really it. I would just like to see something like that, it would be much easier to navigate through everything this way.

A few other things...
How about making buttons without labels. How many people really have whatever is on the button setup as the shorcut for that button.

Also we need more buttons, maybe some in the corner as well like a controler.

Maybe having a screen that is meant to be touched by fingers. It would be nice everynow and then. I absolutely hate having smudges on the screen but when I use the Nevo remote I catch myself just tapping the screen with my fingers.

How about faceplates of somesort. I'm surprised this hasn't come about yet. Everyone has a personalized image in the today screen right? Well how about personalizing the case as well. It would also be able to put screen protectors on before the faceplate so they don't pull up on the edges. (If anyone is listing make them a reasonable price)

Just my thought. What does everybody else think? Is there already one out there that I am missing?

I think the first implementation of a default landscape device using PPC2003SE will be a gaming device, similar to the Tapwave Zodiac. There is actually a great chance that MS will foster and encourage such a device now that they have announced there will be no XBox handheld. Also, with the Tapwave having relatively high popularity, it seems likely that another company, possibly a leser known designer/developer like Tapwave, will try for the same success with the PPC platform. I wouldn't expect to see this sort of a device in the very near future however, and instead of looking like your drawing, I would anticipate it looking more like the Zodiac, with buttons on either side of the screen. The only other device I could see with a landscape layout would be a clamshell/keyboard PDA like the MPx or Clie UX50.

Thanks for pointing me to the Tapwave Zodiac. I have not seen those anywhere before. I thought I was probably missing something. Hopefully someone like HP jumps on the bandwagon.

How about the OQO. It even runs XP so all your EMU's are good to go and has a USB port for the controller of your choice.

I like the stripping of the labels off the buttons, but perhaps some sort of labeling, like a circle, square, triangle, etc..

For perfect landscape / portrait flexibility, check out the design of the Bandai Wonderswan (http://www.guybrush.demon.co.uk/wsw/layout.html), a Japanese portable gaming device which can be used either way.

I have one of those collecting dust. Too bad the games were/are never that great. A lot of my students still play them.

I seen the OQO I posted that article. That Japaneses thing looks, without reading any of the specs on it, like crap. The Zodiac looks the best all around for now. I would just like to see something that is good enough to be mainstream, have a horizontal setup.
