And it's another beauty. :D
Now if I can just get my 2215 upgraded................

I think it is notable that 4.6.3 was also released today for those users satisified with 4.x and not willing to buy the next version just to get fixes.
Kudos WebIS! :werenotworthy:

ew! The new Calendar toolbar across the top instead of down the right. Anyone see a setting to move that? This is why MS moved all settings/menus to the bottom. I have to obscure the screen with my hand to make changes to views.

Sorry Ed :(
No there is no current setting to move it up or down. We made the change to properly support Landscape mode for the future...but it is planned to offer support in changing this to the bottom.
So many things we wanted to do for 5.1 had to be postponed to get the landscape/vga support properly in and tested - therefore the 5.02 moniker :)
Also please note, we will actually be releasing 5.03 probably in a week. Its main purpose is to support Hebrew natively as well fix a note bug that we've been trying to fix since february in 5.0 and finally a few hours after 5.02 was released got the info we needed to fix it...love that ;)

Anyone have a 5.01 CAB file? This just isn't going to work for me.

I like the tool bar across the top.... it allows your month view to be full all the time.
I have found a few screen refresh problems though.... like when I changed the tabs to show text AND icons.... it made it to where you had to scroll over with the two arrow buttons to view hidden tabs.... but the green "to the top" button did not go away.... and it was sort of in the way for scrolling to the right.
I guess I will report it on the WebIS website....
I took a screen shot of it.
But hey... I also think it seems a bit speedier too... gotta love that!!

That's not really a bug. That more of a side effect of having really long tabs. That's been an issue since...4.x and there isn't any good answer to it unless we mess with the tab control at a low level really.
The real answer is - don't do both text all the time and icon.

Some on our beta list didn't like it at first either...but they got used to it and really started liking it within a couple days. I'd say give it a try for a couple days :) And perhaps by then we may have the Hebrew update which I can definitely *try* to offer the ability to move the bar at the bottom in that timeframe.

I absolutely LOVE the calendar toolbar on the top. I've been wanting this feature since I first bought PI last summer. It was too cumbersome on the right, and narrowed the narrow part of the screen.
Only one small complaint--the color schemes don't affect the toolbar color. Obviously the color schemes weren't originally designed with the toolbar in mind, but it would be nice on a forthcoming update to see the toolbar colors incorporated into the color schemes.

Dangit dangit dangit! I just told myself I won't buy a new PPC device for 6 months or so...but now after seeing the new PI with high-res support... and I'm stuck with PI low-res... :grumble:
Can't wait for HP to come out with a high-res screen in a 4100 series body! :D
BTW, I really appreciate the location of the new calendar view selector, since I'm left-handed my hand used to block the screen when changing calendar views. :)
The one thing that still wasn't added was the Alarm Notes sort by modified date option... :? but I'm not complaining! ;) Great job as always Alex! 8)
(Sorry for going smily overboard  )
Posted earlier in the other PI thread.

Has anyone noticed an marked speed increase or is it just me? Not to say that PI was slow before but on my 1910 is seems to be running much faster.

Alex,
Great update (as usual). Quick question, I have 5.02 running on my e805 and the screens don't look hi-res like the screenshots posted on your website. Is this a special version of PI that I don't have? I couldn't find any information on the PI website to tell.
I want my screens to look like your screens! Or does 5.02 require 2k3SE to take advantage of the new version?

5.02 requires 2k3SE. Otherwise you're still running in 96 DPI mode, not 192 DPI.

The toolbar colors ARE available to color scheme designers. Just that all the designers of the color schemes that PI includes liked the colors as is and didn't add the colors into updates of the schemes.
I'll be posting an FAQ on how to add colors of the color bar to a scheme.

A small request for Alex, if i may: Apply the nifty gradient in the calendar tabs to the contact tabs as well.
While we're at it, how about moving the All Dates/In Progress/Start/End Today... options in TV to the top row, using the same look?
(Just for uniformity across views, just my $.02. ymmv.)

applying tab gradients is far harder than toolbars. So that's why its not in there yet.

I like the calendar toolbar across the top, and can wait until PI offer an upgrade which will allow one to have it in the side as an option. I too am dissapointed that my screen does not look as neat as the high res screenshots, will have to save up for an upgrade. Is the 02 XDA a high res screen as I am considering that for the next purchase?

It's not I'm afraid. It's standard QVGA (320x240).
About PI - I like the toolar at the top personally. I usually have the week view set, but the text goes off the left of each box. This way I can have more displayed at once. Nice job Alex! :way to go:

I've noticed every now and then that the keyboard kind of gets stuck. It will go away but there will be a large white space where it was in month view and the month will be scrunched up to give it space. I have to quit and restart it for the month to resize itself properly.

Yes, that's in a bug report on our internal system, but I never could get it to happen. So...its one of those things that we just kind of keep in our minds until we can figure out why.

I've seen this in other apps too. Not unique to PI.

I also have to admit - i didn't like that toolbar at the top but it's growing on me as well. I guess change can be good if we don't resist it too much.

To be honest, I've gotten a couple very vehement dislikes of the top toolbar. A handful of people who don't care for it at first, but got used to it, and a bunch of people who like it a lot.
I am trying to offer some way to customize it more, but for now...that'll have to wait. My main workstation is going to repair tomorrow so I'll be out of work until it gets back.

I'll concede i didn't like the top-bar at first - having gotton used to and loving the side-bar. It was easy to tap on but must have been awful for the lefty's out there. However, I have to admit I have gotton used to the change and don't really mind now.
And you have to admit that light blue bar is very pretty :)

Thanks Jonathon for the response re: XDA II screen resolution, I still fancy one though! After a week or more the PI toolbar on top is going along well, don't miss the side version !

But the ultimate question is, does Ed like the top toolbar yet?

I doubt it :( And frankly - I take Ed's opinions very strongly.

That isn't the ultimate question. I am but one in a huge sea of users and it seems most really like it, especially the lefties that have had to reach across the screen to get to the side bar. Alex is making changes to allow more flexibility in the next OS (WM2003 SE) with its landscape settings and I think it's great to see such rapid support of the new OS. :way to go:
One person's personal preference shouldn't influence an app as popular as PI. Alex is obviously doing something right to be at the top of the handango sales chart so much. :D
