sorry for all the posts but can i use Ipaq without battery but hooke dup to that car charger thing or outlet thingy?

I don't see why not, but I haven't tried it myself. At work when I have my laptop hooked up to power all day, I take out its battery....

8O arrgg...!!! just tried it with my 2215 it did a hard reset.

good thing i keep everthing important on the sd and cf

8O I certainly wouldn't have expected that! Perhaps laptops have a more sophisticated battery interface?

I think PPCs might work such that if it's plugged in it still runs off the battery, but it's receiving power so the battery doesn't lose power??

So if you don't have a battery in there it's not actually being charged?

Of course this is just speculation

Well, unless there's an external battery charger, unless the battery is in the unit, the battery would definitely not be charged. ;)

I meant that the device wouldn't be powered.

Bringing up a slightly old thread.
If it hard resets when you remove the battery, how do you swap the battery without losing everything.

You can't remove the battery while the device is powered on or it will hard reset. If you turn the device off first, you're okay for as long as the backup battery has power.
