Dell Axim x5. Click media player, nothing happens. Tried to download WMP8 update. Told me that I was not connected. Tried 7.1. Says that it is incompatible. I need this back and running for a business application ASAP.
If no fix, can someone recommend WMA to MP3 converter that is FREE and easy to use.

You may have to do a hard reset to get Media Player back on its feet. For the moment, instead of trying to find a file converter, I think you would be better off downloading a trial of Pocket Music

It will play your wma files and allow you to figure out what's wrong with MP.
Good luck!

Have you tried opening the file directly from the Windows directory? You can do that by opening up File Explorer and looking for wmplayer.exe. That file is in ROM, so nothing can really happen to it. If it doesn't work, you have a much larger problem, and you should probably try a hard reset.
But if it DOES work, you can just tap and hold that file, select "Copy", and then go into Windows/Start Menu or Windows/Start Menu/Programs and "Copy Shortcut" into one or both of those directories. That will give you a good link to the program, and you can delete the old one(s).
Good luck!
