I just finished upgrading my Axim X5 400 (PXA250) to PPC 2003 & I was pleasantly surprised by a significant up-tick in flash memory write speeds.

In the following examples, I used 2 files totaling 10.01m (5.95m mdb file & 4.06m txt file)

Built-in Storage
PPC 2002: 0:50
PPC 2003: 0:30

CF Card (Sandisk 256mb)
PPC 2002: 1:25
PPC 2003: 1:10

SD Card (Lexar 256mb 32X)
PPC 2002: 1:05
PPC 2003: 0:40

SD Card (Sandisk 256mb)
PPC 2002: 3:30
PPC 2003: 4:10

Note the decrease in speed by the sluggish 256mb Sandisk SD Card 8O (Now relegated to my digital camera. :!: )

I can really notice the difference in the performance, especially with resource demanding applications like “TransAct 2.0”.

Also of note, my Axim is one of the first ones shipped in Canada, therefore has the slower processor bus. My expectations for the upgrade were only in the Wi-Fi connection improvements.

I agree that the Calculator skin “sucks” & that I’d rather have the battery & light controls on the top bar, but these are minor grievances compared to the overall upgrade experience.

My advice: Upgrade to PPC 2003 & stay away from Sandisk SD Cards!

Whoa! That's interesting.

I'd agree - Dell's WM2003 is awkward in some areas, but the speed beats the 2002 version.
