Hi,
I have an Ipaq 5455 and would like to know would if it take advantage of a high speed sd (secure digital) card.
Should I get a high speed or a regular one?
I have been looking at a sandisk ultra II.
Thanks for your help.

i notice no difference in speed when playing media files on a ppc via these cards. Save your money and buy a kingston or viking regular sd card.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I wish someone would do a benchmark. Most standard SD cards show an advertised minimum sustained speeds of:
3MB/sec (20x) for writing
4MB/sec (26x) for reading
The high speed ones (ie SanDisk Ultra II), advertise minimum sustained speeds of:
9MB/sec (60x) for writing
10MB/sec (66x) for reading
Maximum speeds are higher than these, and some manufacturers claim higher sustained rates for the standard ones. Benchmarks would help resolve the issue.
The other factor would be the pocket pc interface and what limitations it imposes on the transfer rates...
dpreview has a good benchmark comparison of some compact flash card speeds:

I'm in the midst of doing a comparison of various 512 MB SD cards from several companies. Should be finished in 1-2 weeks. Watch for it. :-)

Perfect. Thanks Jason.
I think lots of people will find that information useful.
Hey, you don't think some pocket pcs have faster SD interfaces than others, do you? hmmm....

I'll see if I can find time to test that too... ;-)

Not sure about "high speed" like those claiming 9 or 10MB/s transfer rates, but between the Lexar and Sandisks I have, I can say that the card can make a difference. The Lexar is faster.
Take a look at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22619&highlight= echizen did some speed tests of several cards in a iPAQ 4150, including Sandisk Ultra II 256 SD. Link to results are in that thread.
