Hi. I've recently decided to go for a Secure Digital wifi card for my axim, but I can't decide which one to pick. The choices are down to

Sandisk Connect Sd Wifi card http://www.esend.com/sandisk/product.asp?sku=SDWSDB%2D000%2D768&mscssid=DQSR34XLCA2A9G0AGQ9SFP4W4T7T4PA4

or

Socket Communications SDIO Wifi card

I have read mixed reviews on both cards from websites like http://www.pricegrabber.com , and other sites that say that sandisk performance is very, very slow. So I want to know, what do any of you who have experience with these products think?

Go with the Socket if you can. The two units are exactly the same piece of hardware, but Socket's drivers are much better written, and much more stable.

Just a pricing FYI.

MobilePlanet is offering a $20.00 rebate on the Socket SDIO card. This coupled w/ a $ 20.00 rebate from Socket brings the card cost to $67.90.

Offer expires 3/31/04 according to the site, and is limited to stock on hand

I had the Socket card with my 1935 before upgrading to a 4150. The Socket card was excellent. Installation was a breeze and performance was very, very good. I trust Socket a heck of a lot more than SanDisk as a company.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably go with the socket then, I've already had enough with my 64mb sandisk memory card taking a dump, wouldn't want to endure anything like that again.

I recently got the Socket SDIO wireless LAN card for my HP Ipaq 1935, and it works really well. However, the only complaint I have is that when I turn off the unit, sometimes when I turn it back on the wireless card doesn't turn on (the green light doesn't come on) and I have to do a soft reset to have the modem turn on. I don't know if a driver update will fix this problem or not----I have been trying to get the latest drivers from the Socket site but the ftp server seems to be having problems. ????? Anyway, it is definitely great when it works!! :) I've been playing with email, MSN Messenger and AIM on my PDA now that I am wireless!!! :D

I'm sure I'll be able to live with a few soft resets. I'm mostly going to use it to browse the internet off my schools completly unsecured wireless network, and I'm probably going to upgrade my linksys 4 port hub to a wireless version, so I can use it at my house as well.

foosball_monkey,

Is this what you need?

Problem:
The SDIO card drivers for the shipping version of the 1930/1940 series iPAQ devices causes problems with Socket SDIO based products that may result in inoperative hardware.

Symptoms Include:
Unrecognized card in slot error messages
Socket software unresponsive or crashing
Locking up system when hardware is plugged in or in use
Card not responding during and after suspend/resume function

Specific Problem Resolution:
HP has provided an updated driver file for distribution by OEM hardware vendors to correct the SDIO slot issues in these devices.
