Curious how the system font hacks work on the Toshiba e805 in 640x480....has anyone tried them?

Thanks!

I see this program is pretty inexpensive (only about $10 with the "coupon" on the site), but even so... I'm wondering... is it worth it? I'd welcome any comments from people who have tried it. What did it do for you that made it worth the bucks?

Also beware, I don't think the creater offers upgrades. New hacks meens new version with no upgrade?

It's already been tried on th e805. Doesn't work. Sorry to dissapoint you.

If it had a hack to move mail attachments to a CF or SD storage card, I'd buy it in a second.

Um... what operating system are you running? I know that WM2003 has this feature built-in (at least, on my iPAQ 5500). Just open your mail program on your PPC, then go to Tools --> Options --> Storage, and you should have a check box that reads "Store attachments on storage card."

Any hack program that lets you get rid of the start button animation and make the scroll bars narrower is worth it. I use RegKing2003 and love it. I wonder how the change screen orientation works, any one, any one, Buler.......

RegKing 2003 also works great on the e805. 0X

The program is worth it to me because I don't have to hack the registry myself. Do I know how to do that? Yes, I do. It's pretty convenient to switch a hack on or off then see if it worked. Do I use the program all the time? No, just occasionally. It's still worth it to me.

Sorry, haven't used any screen orientation hacks.

I believe the software comes w/ 1 year of free upgrades. It has been updated several times since my purchase and I have not had to pay for upgrades yet.

If RegKing works great on the e805 then Tweaks2k2 works great too because both are applying the same hack in this case.

The upgrade policy is simple. Life time upgrade for members of www.todopocketpc.com (active members), 1 Year of Free upgrades for the rest (there are around 20 % of my users who bought Tweaks2k2 more than a year ago and they still getting free upgrades ;)

That doesn't seem to work with the h2215. The only "storage card" option is the iPAQ file store which is only 3.8MB. I don't know of anyway to store attachments to the other cards.

That is my problem as well. On my Axim, using the storage card option moves them all to the Built In storage file store. It eats up more storage than any other item. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved in WM 2004, but I had hoped it would have been resolved in WM 2003 and it wasn't. All they need to do is allow this option to see the external CF or SD cards. Can't be that hard to correct, can it?

RE: Mail Attachments on 2215 -

That's just plain WEIRD! I have a 2215, I checked the box to store attachments on storage card, and they go right to my SD card, no problems...

Ok, you have to understand one thing. System font is mostly the font used by the OS in messages or in some parts of the OS.

Basically, it works in this way. If I create a new application. I can control in my application what kind of font and what size I want for that font that Iīm going to use in one specific part of my application, let say a button. Even if somebody else change the registry to change the system font size, my application will hold the font size specified by me. In another hand, if I use a simple OS function to send a warning message, with just an Ok button. Thatīs a function provided to me by the OS and I donīt have any control of what font I want and what size. Itīs the case where the registry hack works.

What Iīm trying to tell you guys is that you wont find any application capable of changing the font size in every single object that you can see in your PPC, just because of the fact that many of this objets are controlled not by the system font but by the font and font size selected by the author of that specifc progran where that object is located.

I never have thought about this situation because I donīt use tmail. I use nPop where I can save all my emails and attach. in anywhere I want.
But Iīll check it this trick is possible or not.

I posted the fix to this in the iPAQ forums of HP's site once. It worked for the person in question, so maybe it will work here as well. The problem is that certain registry entries are created the first time you enable this feature. If you don't have a storage card installed AT THAT TIME, it uses the only thing that is available... namely, the file store. Turning the feature off, then inserting the card, then turning the feature back on is supposed to work (creates directories and registry entries pointing to the storage card), but sometimes it "sticks" to the file store. Here's how to fix it. Be warned that this will require some form of registry editor (I use "Resco Registry Editor," included with "Resco Explorer."), and that editing the registry can be hazardous to your PPC's (and your) health, so do this at your own risk.

1. MAKE A BACKUP of your PDA, specifically, the registry.

2. Install a registry editing program if you haven't already.

3. Uncheck the "Store attachments on storage card box" to turn off this feature. (Don't forget to tap "Ok" since changes aren't made until you do so.

4. Delete the root Attachments directory out of your FileStore (it should start with "Inbox.mst" with a trailing string of numbers). If you can't delete it, you may need to soft reset and/or delete any subfolders and files it contains.

5. Using your registry editing program, delete the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Attachments\AttsDir" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MAPI\AttachPath" string entries. These are the ONLY strings in there that you should delete. (Note that the first is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and that the second is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER.) Don't worry, they both should get recreated when you next turn on your attachments feature.

6. MAKE SURE that your storage card is being recognized by your PDA. If it isn't... then you'll just end up going back to your File Store again.

7. Go back into Tools --> Options --> Storage. The "Storage Card" memory count should now reflect the available space on your card, rather than your File Share.

8. Check the "Store attachments..." box (don't forget to say "Ok" again) to reenable the storage card again, then browse out to your storage card in File Explorer to make sure that the "Inbox.mst" folder was created on your storage card this time.

That should do it. Let me know if it doesn't.

ctitanic
03-12-2004, 03:14 AM
Well, in my way you don't have to delete anything. All you have to do is open

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MAPI\AttachPath

And change the string from \iPAQ File Storage\Inbox..... (this is a long string that has to be kept the same)
to \SD Card\Inbox....

That's all.

I'm planing to include this trick in the next version of Tweaks2k2.

When will the next version of Tweaks be available?

I tried that registry hack but couldn't get it to work on my Axiim.

When will the next version of Tweaks be available?

Within two or three weeks.

But... did you find those above mentioned keys in your PPCs? Basically the second one.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MAPI\AttachPath

All you need is to replace the Folder Storage Device name for the one that you want. I found that after that the OS creates automatically the new folder in my SD card and save the attachments there even when the Inbox still giving the information about the space free in my iPAQ File Storage. So... the important thing in here is where your attachments are saved no how much free space you have.

That was for PIE but this hack is not longer needed in PPC2002 and 2003.

Increase the TCPIP windows size.
