I have a Toshiba E330 and a Intel Celeron 500Mhz computer that is running Windows XP Pro. Now the question I have is that I would like to put the PC into my car and remotely connect to my PC from my PDA. I would have my PDA in the front of my car and be able to view the files that are on my computer and play mp3's and video files from it with out a actual monitor just the PDA screen. It doesn't have to view the desktop just be able to use the files on my computer.

Any Ideas??

Please Help!!

The first priority is to get a connection via Bluetooth or 802.11b. The Bluetooth with probably be cheaper. Once you have a Bluetooth SD card and a Bluetooth dongle for your PC, you're more than half way there.

That is a one option from Handango to remotely access your PC. This is actually making your PPC a portal into your PC.

OR, you could just share the files on your PC via your network, then access them via your PPCs connection! Free!

Drive safely, though!

Assuming you're on XP. Go into My Computer. If you just want to share your whole harddrive, right-click on the harddrive icon and click Sharing and Security. Then you say you understand blah blah blah, and check the box in Network Sharing to share it over the network.

If you just want to share specific folders, do the same thing, only right-click the folder instead of the harddrive icon.

Am I making sense yet?

You can also try Vinyl (http://www.pocketwerks.com/). It has a file server component that sits on the PC and serves files from whatever directories you specify to the client on the PPC. It'll work over WiFi or a cable, and it looks pretty cool, too. 8)

If you don't mind a little work, you could always do what I did. I bought an aluminum case (http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/pocketpcthoughts/product.asp?dept%5Fid=3716&pf%5Fid=MP952011&listing=1) for my 4150 and cut the lid off with a dremel. Then I bought a Panavise mount (http://www.panavise.com/nf/comm/indash/indashviewfinalimage.html?modelID=32823746052392876) for my car and attached the case to the mount. Now I can just slide the PPC into the aluminum "cradle", plug the cassette adapter into the headphone jack, and I'm good to go.

If you want to use Vinyl over an ActiveSync connection, all you'd need is just a USB extension cable (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=236928&pfp=SEARCH) and one of the retractable sync/charge cables. I bought the JavoEdge (http://www.javoedge.com/simtrix/productMtce/productDetail.do?state=init&productId=64&productRef=PSYN-11141-03&category=SYNC_CABLE) because it's silver.
