I am looking for a complete collection of the original Sherlock Holmes books in MS Reader format. Does anyone know where I can get them, or does anyone have any of these e-books? I don't want to have to pay for them. Thanks.

So you want something for nothing, eh? OK:

That should keep you off the street for a few days.

Yes, all good places to visit, as is dotlit.com at http://www.dotlit.com/byauthor.asp
and Chris De Herrera's Windows CE Website at

I would check Project Gutenberg. Those books would all be public domain so you shouldn't have to pay for them. Remember, earlier than 1923=free.

Project Gutenberg does not deliver in .LIT format. I could easily convert their files into .LIT, but why bother when there are loads of other free places as can be seen above.

Well well, another Holmes fan!

I've read all of the books / stories - I even made an Ebook of several stories ages ago; even had illustrations in it.

I used texts from www.sherlockian.net. There's a link, top left hand corner to the stories on sites (and a few on there as well) Ages since I've been there, so YMMV.

Many of these books can be found in standard text format. You can use MS Reader add-in for word to convert to .lit or consider using another reader. I use uBook from www.gowerpoint.com. It handles most text formats superbly. It does take a bit of triall and error to get it set up the way you like, but it's fast, free, and free.

Hi
i've got a problem here. i downloaded the .lit file, now when i open it, my pda goes into microsoft reader, and starts opening that particular book...but after 10 minutes...still busy but no book yet.
Has anyone else seen that problem?

No, it works fine for me. Try doing a soft reset and then opening the book again. See if it does the same thing (the ebook may have been corrupted during DL)...

Ken Mattern doesn't have the complete on his site (http://esspc-ebooks.com/default.htm) but he has the best covers for what he does have. This is a great place to start.
