View Full Version : Say it ain't so! Cracked screen...

Ok....I'm literally in tears. My lovable, faithful X5 is a goner. It was only a 2 or 3" fall out of my hands, but the perfect angle as the screen landed on the corner of my laptop....cracked screen in 2 places. Unfortunately, I can't even get into the device because some of my password numbers are where the cracks are and the screen isn't responding there. Oh....whoa is me.....

I supposed I could drop $150 to have the screen fixed, but I'm thinking I might as well get something new. At what point does it make sense to repair vs. buy new? $150 is too much to spend just to get what I had.....maybe it's time for the X3i upgrade.....

Sorry for the rant....very sad....

My true condolences as sad songs play on EZSONG 101.1 am in the background.

I too have a scratched and cracked PDA. Took me a month to get over it.

It'll get better, the pain will go away. Just hold in there son...hold in there.

:mecry: This is so sad!

May be getting a new one would ease the pain a bit.

I am going to shred some tear for you now, but frist, fondly kiss my X5.

Maybe some good will come of all this. I see that at least one person has learned not to take their Axim for granted. It's so easy to get into that "routine" with the X5....you know what I mean: synching data day in and day out.....and before you know it, you just stop treating her well. All she wants is a little appreciation and respect....I know I've learned my lesson....

OK...I'll buy you a 24 oz. coffee at the Harleysville WaWa as a rental fee and we'll call it a deal!

Just kidding, but thanks......it's time to rethink what PDA I want to use. Lucky for me, annual bonus day is TOMORROW....I don't want to go completely nuts on a new purchase, but I'm willing to say that money is no object provided the PDA is a good value. I won't pay for features I don't need. I was really planning on a new DLP HDTV this weekend, but that may wait now.....I can't live for too long without my PPC. It's amazing how dependent one can get....

Thanks!

Good news! I don't owe Steve any coffee!

I know this is a Dell forum and I don't want to go OT, but my tears of sadness have turned to tears of joy: I picked up a Toshiba e805 at lunch today!!!!

I was looking forward to that coffee! Maybe if I buy you a cup, I can play with your e805? 2 cups? 10?

I realize you've already bought the e805, but do you realize that it is $100 off (until tomorrow) on CompUsa.com. $499 after $100 instant rebate.

I saw that but when I went to purchase, they were out of stock in all local retail locations AND from on-line delivery.

Circuit City is selling it for $599, but there is a $50 rebate, so at least I didn't pay full price. Besides, I accept all of this as part of my early-adapter syndrome.....

Thanks!

Steve,

If you (or anyone else in the Harleysville area) haven't seen the e805, shoot me an e-mail and we'll set something up....coffee's on me...

Why must fate be so cruel? I have PLENTY of credit at CompUSA so I could buy this unit in a hearthbeat. What I don't have is a job. Wives tend to frown on large purchases in these circumstances.

Have you used it much yet? Is it worth it? Is it as big as it seems?

No

Tell you what, before I face the valid "wrath of the moderators" with the continued OT....let me write an unofficial review \ random thoughts over this weekend and post in the Toshiba forum.

Thanks!
