Anyone else set their PPC on the dash, and let it reflect off the windshield at night.

The movie I watched looked really poor up on the windshield (mainly due to reflecting off the surface, and maybe a middle or the outer layer of glass, some ghosting/double image, varied depending on angle), but I knew the movie, and could see the scenes, and it was less distracting then holding the PPC while driving :? Thinking, I may try to put some type of small reflective on my windshield (maybe a screen protector), to improve the picture.

It beats falling asleep :D .

This just sounds too dangerous to discuss. I could see however, benefit in using a a PPC to project a HUD with critical driving details like the speed, rpm, etc. :D

Next time you plan on doing this - post which highways you'll be driving on so that the rest of us can make sure to avoid them.

Yikes 8O

We have HUD in our cars, pretty useful, and its not distracting. I dont think you should be watching movies whilst driving....

A HUD in the car is one thing - if it provides information that you can glance at and get information immediately.

Having a movie displayed is different. There's too much risk of watching the movie just way too much.

I don't think I'd ever use it to watch a film that I'd never seen before, just to glance at what the scene was, for a film I've seen.

I've listened to movies quite a bit in the car... you pretty much get the feel of the film, even without seeing any of it.

This thread really wasn't meant to look at what is safe in a vehicle, there's plenty of things to distract drivers, a small 3x2 rectangle on the windshield glanced at occasionally seems ok to me when traveling a limited access highway, with very very little traffic. If I was like some of you driving in CA traffic, I’d even leave my cell phone off, no food or drink in the car either.

I really expected that some guy with a Bluetooth gps to play with had already figured out a way to get heads up display a little better.... But glancing at a gps could be very dangerous while driving....

one day i was driving in the early evening, and this dumpy, beat-up sedan was a bit ahead of me. he had a hockey game displayed in one of those motorized fold-down tv displays attached to the roof of his beater.

i think all drivers behind him were staring at the game on tv!!!!
(including me...yeesh!)

a poor quality HUD on a barren road isn't THAT bad. just make sure your insurance is paid-up.

It's not so bad as long as you honestly don't pay more attention to the movie than the road.

I admit that I talk on the phone in the car.

A HUD would be great for the car - especially for a navigation system! That, along with voice command and it would be much safer than looking down to check directions

A friend of mine told me that once he saw a van full of guys watching a porno movie :) I'd think that even the sound of that could be distracting to the driver!
