Well, I got my broken iPAQ back. Due to a problem with the motherboard, if I plug my iPAQ in, it turns off and gives me the benefit of a hard reset. Suffice to say, I cannot charge my battery.

Now, my new/replacement 1935 iPAQ + cradle is arriving in a few days (hopefully... Canada Post is telling me it's in the "destination country"), and in the interim, I have my roommate's 4155 cradle. Now, the benefit of the cradles is that I can charge a battery and use it in my 'broken' iPAQ.

So, what I'm planning on doing is having an extra battery or two charging constantly, then I'll have dual iPAQs. But when I need to charge one, I'll have to take the battery out. So, my question is: what's a good backup program? I've got a 256 mb Lexar SD card that I plan on using. I'm looking for something that does quick incremental backups often. Ideally, something that would backup when I turn it on and every few minutes after that.

I've been using ActiveSync backups forever, so I'm new to the idea of backing up straight to the storage cards. Any tips would be appreciated

Try Sprite Backup. You can schedule the backup and you can turn on the battery monitor to backup when the battery reaches a level set by you. Best of all it can put a .exe backup file on your SD card so if you do hardreset, just tap the .exe file and you're running again. It will also let you backup to the PC now as well. It is much, much, much faster than AS.

I think it's now called 'Pocket Backup Plus' by Sprite Software.

I don't leave home without it.

LOL it's actually the other way round it's now called Sprite Backup Premium Edition - which means by the way if you're upgrading you CANNOT install over the top, you must uninstall Pocket Backup Plus and then reinstall the update.

Also take note, there is a special upgrade option for iPaq users, as iPaq Backup is a branded, feature-limited version of the Sprite program. And yes, I just checked the page (http://www.spritesoftware.com/upgrades/upgrade_ipaq.html) for you and your new 1935 is eligible, unfortunately not for the free upgrade that comes with the high-end models but for the standard upgrade which is still only a measly $10 for the Premium Edition.

It is bar none the only backup software to have. It has saved my bacon on numerous occasions, and worked perfectly every time. You can schedule backups, or have them made automatically when your battery falls to a certain percentage. You can also do network backups, either over Activesync or, for example, over wifi to your PC which is what I do to save space on my storage card.

It also comes with Space Detective to analyse where the hell all your device memory has gone, very useful, and PocketMon, which is a Today plugin that displays device stats like battery/memory/CPU.

Really, having written this and thought about it, for $10 it really is good value. No, I don't work for them at all!

No problem. I don't think there's anything startling in the new version other than the name change, only a few bugfixes for XDAII users.

Just done a backup, by the way, 3 minutes 59 seconds to back up 40 megs, over wifi. And an .exe backup to my storage card, in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Whips Activesync backup.

I'm definitely gonna give the software a go. I read the last two replies on my old iPAQ (Yay, it works!), and it's definitely worthwhile software. I already knew about the cheap price, and I'm probably going to get it :mregreen:

Although my iPAQ has WiFi, my computer doesn't, so that's not gonna help me too much. But still, great features.
