Hello all,

As many fellow Calgarians can relate, a very popular radio station this morning has left us. The Peak 107.3 has been replaced with Q107 - a radio station now devoted to rock.

This is terrible, The Peak played pop music, but it was all the good music that I particularily liked. It is now suffered the same fate as the radio station at 97fm, it has changed more than 3 times in the last two years! While the Peak 107 was known as Power 107, it was the same music and hosts. Then they slightly changed it to "The Peak 107.3, the best of the 90s and now" (adding in the 90s part)

So now I am stuck with Light 96 CHFM, (what a crap radio station) and this Q107, which by the way now plays all rock and everything from the albums of famous people. They now believe in not only playing jus one hit song, but all the unknown songs on someones album! The also dissed the Peak, by saying "no more silly morning shows, we want to present you with new intelligent hosts. No more stupid games etc. etc."

I'm so sad

(Yes I know its a radio station, but it was my favourite!)

End rant,

-Justin.

I haven't had the problem of my favorite radio stations going off air, but I am fed up with the amount of ads on them. This morning on a 15-min drive to school, I was switching between 2 classic rock stations the whole trip and didn't hear a song start until I was pulling into the parking lot. At home now I listen to Internet radio, it is so much easier and better. I run it through Winamp and get 128kbps Stereo (on the station I like), plus there are a bunch of other stations available. My favorite internet radio station even offers the feature of listening with your cell phone. I just need an internet connection in my car....

Interesting. Thanks for the info. As a Rock fan, I'm actually not too upset. I listen to CJAY-92 and Jack FM right now for the most part. Lite96 and (then) The Peak were next.

Hopefully they don't fall into the same rut that 96.9 did before it became Jack and try to be a "different" kind of rock station, playing mostly older, less popular tracks. It's been proven time and time again that there's no market for that in Calgary.

A lot of "top 40" radio stations tend to go in and out as the years pass. Add way-too-long commercial breaks, and this is why I've stopped listening to music stations entirely, and instead play my own music and use some Internet streaming radio when I want variety.
