Okay, I did the day plan ($9.99) with T-Mobile and it was pretty cool. Was wondering if anyone has the unlimited plan and do you find it worth it for the $29.99 per month price?

You're talking about T-Mobile WiFi, not GPRS, right? For me, $29.99 is not worth it as I'm not near their APs often enough (believe it or not -- despite being in NYC), but if you frequent Starbucks, etc. I think it might very well be useful. :)

I have T-Mobile's unlimited data plan and I only pay $19.99. This is the GPRS add-on plan that I use with the $69.99 family plan.
We use that plan as our main ISP since we got rid of our land line and went totally wireless. It's a bit more expensive than our previous dial-up ($7/mo) but I find it worth it since we get a faster connection. Sad isn't it?

Yep, Wi-Fi. I find myself in Starbucks and Borders Books quite often during my lunch hour at work and afterwork waiting for my daughter to finish tutoring. It's a sweet thing and I figured out a $1.00 a day is not bad when I look in those terms. I can get everything working with the exception of sending e-mail. I can receive just fine.

Also, what's up with the roaming. I read through all the fine print and only see roaming may be additional. Roam to/through who and how much?

Just as they have a deal for T-Mobile voice customers for the GPRS all you can eat, they also do that for voice customers on their WiFi Hotspot stuff, $19.99/month, all you can eat. Course if you are not T-Mobile voice subscriber, oh, well.
When I lived in the Philly area I used the T-Mobile unlimited WiFi plan and found it mostly worked well. There were some places where the network wasn't working properly (Borders in South Jersey were a big problem for some reason - as Petite Flower will tell you, everything in Jersey is a problem :D ) but the majority were OK.
I don't travel as much now because I changed jobs, so I cancelled the service. My plan at the moment is to get access via my Sprint phone.

Also, remember that if you have the GPRS Unlimited plan you also have access to the WiFi spots, though customer service will play dumb about it....

Do you have a link for this? From my days with T-Mobile, HotSpot was always an add-on.

I am looking to see exactly how I got the info from T-Mobile (Login and username) when i called customer service about a GPRS question I had which led to the discovery of this little known fact. Remember that Customer Service will play dumb if you ask them. There is also a thread somewhere on www.semuser.com about a few other people who also have discovered this (this shows it just not something i lucked up on). Over the weekend i hope to find the information.

Wow! Wouldn't that be great if my unlimited GPRS plan also got me unlimited WiFi access?!?!? If/when you find out the details, drop me a private message!

Cool. $29.99 for the Wifi plan or $19.99 for the GPRS plan and they throw the WiFi plan in for FREE!

I have the $19.99 GPRS add-on plan, and now I am quite curious how the unlimited WiFi thing works. I don't recall ever being given a login name or choosing a password.

I just called the T-Mobile customer service department, and they were adamant about the GPRS and HotSpot services being completely separate and that for me to get the HotSpot access it would cost another $20 per month.
I also asked her how long it would take to activate such an account, because I never know when I'm going to have an airport layover that I could use this with. She said it takes a couple of hours to get the account "in the system," so it probably wouldn't even be worth me waiting until the need arose.
*sigh* Oh, well. I was really hoping to get that HotSpot service, too. If anybody ever DOES find a rep that adds it to your GPRS account for free, PLEASE get his/her name and post it!
