Roughly two-thirds of the product launches are business-oriented, but home items are more in evidence than last year. And the mood is optimistic, but cautiously so. Even consumer products focus on solving real problems; as Demo Executive Producer Chris Shipley says, there is "a rush to be relevant." The Media Mogul does sound cool but a bit pricey. Seems it would be much cheaper to buy a 300GB HD for your home PC and use a DVD copy app to copy your library of DVD's to it for playback. Haven't tried this so don't know if some of the features or video quality is lost in the process.

Yeah, but they claim "It takes just minutes to import a DVD or CD and all of its interactive features to the Molino Media Mogul while maintaining audio and video quality."

Minutes to rip a DVD! Nice...

Wonder what the RIAA would have to say about that!

Or just buy a Sony 300 Disc DVD Changer, then you don't even have to mess with copying over your DVD's.

If you read PCWorld's article or Molino's site they say that the device just copies the DVDs, but don't compress them.

Then concerning your 2nd remark, they say that not only they keep the encryption on the resulting files, but they add some more encryption as to make it impossible to copy the resulting files to another device (PC, PDA or mini/ultraPC, etc.)

CEO Tim Sylvester ... adds that Molino is "extremely sensitive to the rights of copyright holders and we're working with the studios to meet any of their concerns."



From what I understand a vast majority of you guys -like me- hate the diktats of Corporations who want to control what we do with our legally acquired media supports.

And this device is :snipersmile: an Uber-encrypter -read Uber-restricter- I'm most afraid :bad-words:

Yeah, I can see Disney agreeing to this one! :roll: That company is another "press release" wonder, let's see if they can really pull it off...
