i called up hp to ask something about my ipaq h5550 and i was told that since its a new piece i should charge my battery fully and discharge it fully for about 5 times as it is good for the long run. is this true?? caz it doesn't make any sense to me :?:

They suggested doing something like that with an older kind of battery. With the batteries they use for PDAs now you don't have to.

Some types of batteries have what they call a "memory effect" which meant that every time you recharged it without fully draining it reduced the amount of time the battery would last.
If you discharged it and then did a full recharge then it would get rid of this "memory effect" ... bringing the amount of time it would last up again.
I think that's a simple explanation.
