This is always on my "Install Immediately" short list after a hard reset. The built in file explorer in PPC2002 and WM2003 soooo does not cut the mustard.

I couldn't agree more :D As the other user stated; a PPC without it simply doesn't HAVE a decent File Explorer

I like the upgrade policy - if you purchased it in the last year you get a free upgrade. Simple, easy to understand, and very reasonable.

Darn it! I must have forgotten to update my email address. Now it looks like I will have to wait for human intervention to receive my new code! :(

I'm really on the fence here. I have an old version (3.93 I think) and am really waffling on the upgrade. I'm happy with the version I have now, but I am always drawn to new shiny things.

That is nice that they ad FTP support. I have used the demo of Resco FileExplorer and it is very nice. I think I'm going to break down and buy it.

Where is the plugin? Can't find it.

I'd love to use Explorer as an application launcher, but there doesn't seem to be any information on command-line parameters you an pass to the program.

For example, you can run "explorer.exe" "\program files\" and it loads Resco Explorer pointing to the Program Files folder, but I can't seem to find any other nifty things you can do.

I'd love to launch Resco Explorer pointing to a specific folder using "Large Icons" view, Advanced View turned off, and Tree View turned off. It would be great if I could do something like "explorer.exe /A:0 /T:0 /V:0 \program files\" or something like that. This would turn my Explorer into an awesome application launcher with just a push of a button.

As it is now, Resco just remembers whatever state you left it in the last time you were using it. The times I don't want to use it as a Application Launcher, I use it in Details View with Tree View turned on! I just wish there was a way you could load predefined settings when the program is launched.

Anyone got any ideas?

The folks at Resco are responsive to their customers so why not send them a copy of your request?

Aaahhh....the added FTP functionality was enough to draw me over the line. I just threw in the 50% discounted upgrade fee and got the latest version to be mine ... all mine !
My original copy was older than one year (of course i did have the latest version i could upgrade to for free), but even then you get 50% off ! Resco rocks :rock on dude!: just like their products !

Where is the plugin? Can't find it.I am not really sure why they call it an addin. It is really integrated. Look at the screenshot. It is just a subfolder off of My Device.

Maybe, you need to have the full registered version to be able to use it? Just guessing here.

Hmm...I love Resco Explorer! But V5 really seems like a niche upgrade...if you really need an ftp client, then this is definitely a great deal though, awesome file explorer and ftp client in one program!

BTW, does anyone know if they added the feature where when you hold the d-pad select/enter then tap files, it functions similarly to selecting files on your PC by holding Ctrl and clicking files?

When you do the Install via ActiveSync you have the option to not install the FTP & Registry addins.

If anyone is wondering how it works (the FTP), here's how: you just tap'n hold on the "My FTP locations" folder to start a new session. Good luck with it... And ow; it works in the trial version as well :D But i just HAD to have it for more than 14 days

Ok so I bought a 4155, and the APP cd from HP had a full version of Resco on it. I got it with my 5555 before then also ... so I have been using the product.

Is there an upgrade path for people who got it on the CD with their IPAQ as opposed to people who purchased it outright?

You should contact Resco on this. Any time software is included with a device it presents problems for upgrades. They don't know you have it as you didn't register with them, what will the pricing be, etc. I am sure they already have an answer for those that contact them with the question.

Yes, there are checkboxes for these as well as for the desktop side Copy To... and encryption extensions.

Aha! The FTP portion doesn't install from the cab file; you need to download the exe to get it.

Does anyone know if you already have HP Mobile Printing software installed - Does this program not install it again, or if it does can one then remove the HP Mobile Print app to save memory space?

NOTE: I just purchased the upgrade (50% off) and downloaded both the .CAB file and the full installer. I decided to install with the .CAB file and although it upgraded just fine, it didn't install the FTP plug-in......after running the installer from the desktop I was given the option to install the FTP plugin.

Just thought I'd pass that along

Oops, should have checked out page two..sorry for reposting old info

Go here: http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp

And click where it says "click here to ask for new one" (meaning registration code).

Sweet, I also install and configure RE just the way I like it as first thing on the list. For example I always turn off "Tree View", the QVGA screen is just too small to split like that. Can't wait for VGA PPC :)

If you right click on the .exe installer and have winzip ir winrar installed on your system you can extract the files, and there you will find the .cab file for the ftp addin (I like to store .cab files on my storage card). I used to use FTPView for ftp, but had to delete the connections after use, because it stored passwords in unencrypted format in a database (very bad). It was an excellent freeware FTP client, otherwise. The Resco addin encrypts the password in the registry (VERY GOOD!) and is blazingly fast and easy to use. I LOVE IT! Resco file exporer is about the greatest pocket pc program ever. The only thing I want now is a recycle bin. That would make it perfect, and maybe some options for formatting storage cards.

I've gotten 2 new registration codes, but they are only 5 digit...so I think they are for older versions. The new registrations have more digits and include letters correct? I'm waiting on my third code now.

I've downloaded this from resco 3 times and installed it, thinking I got an old file. Still, when I open explorer and bring up the about screen, it shows I have version 4.3

The directions did say to install this over top of the old version...

Can anyone confirm, is this version labeled as v5? and if so, what am I doing wrong?

I uninstalled the previous version prior to installing the new version and had no problems. The About box shows "RESCO Explorer 2003 v5.0."

I installed the new version over the old version, with no issues.

Did all your settings keep when you uninstalled the old version first?

The only thing that remained were my mapped network drives. Everything else -- favorites, send to, preferences, etc. -- were gone. I figured that would be the case, but it only took me about a minute to set it all back.

Does anyone know how to set up and use the FTP add-in. I have never used FTP on my iPAQ, but would like to.
