The latest model in its SPV line of own-brand devices, the M1000, is a PocketPC with an integrated tri-band GPRS radio. The M1000 is remarkably similar to O2's XDA II device, but lacks the latter's Wi-Fi option. Both devices are based on a 400MHz Intel XScale processor and contain 128MB of RAM. Both offer a 3.5in 240 x 320 16-bit colour transflective LCD, and sport integrated digicams. Both run Windows Mobile 2003."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/2004/20040207-orangexda.jpg" /><br /><b>Orange on left, O2 on right</b><br /><br />No word yet on availability and pricing will depend on your contract.

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know where I can get the skin that is displayed on the Orange device? Thanks for your help.

On topic: I wish I could get a model like this that works with the Verizon network.

lacks the latter's WiFi option?

When did the XDAII get WiFi option? Or do they mean Wifi expansion option, as in add a wifi SD card. In that case, don't all PPC with SDIO have a wifi option?

Or does he mean BT option??

Good point - don't know what's going on there. :?

Nice to have more choice of devices though.

Just as one of our colleagues asked... does anyone know the name of that excellent skin on the Orange?

It would be an excellent addition to one's collection so hopefully it is not an Orange proprietary skin...

Hope someone can respond...

Thanks.

Just what I like, well informed news from established news agencies. I guess even The Register can make a mistake every once in awhile. :)

Just to confirm the XDA II does NOT have WiFi. It DOES have Bluetooth.

Do they mean no bluetooth?

the xda ii does have bluetooth.

I know that. Perhaps they mean the SPV is missing BT.

On a side note..for those of you like me , who are waiting for this PPC to arrive to the U.S.

I was just talking a Tmobile customer care rep regarding upgrading my current handset. He told me to wait if I was interested in a a PPC/Phone solution. Tmobile has plans to roll out the XDA II in the U.S in Q2. Not sure how reliable his information is. But he works for Tmobile. So I assume the rumors might have some truth to them.

Keeping fingers crossed. :)
