View Full Version : Anyone have any experience of the FlyJacket/Rugged Case

I'm going to be doing mountain bike helmetcam footage this year - similar to this:

http://www.btinternet.com/~adrenalin.trip/dual_slalem.wmv

Our old setup was a helmetcam hooked up to a video camera, but we now want to try using a PPC.

So... ...I've narrowed it down to the H5550 linked up to a Life View Flyjacket (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=FLYJACKET), which does PAL video in, and an IPAQ Rugged Case (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=282348-B21), which supposedly keeps dust/water out.

Does anyone have any experience of the quality of video produced by the flyjacket and also whether it will fit into the rugged case with a S-Video in cable attached?

I'd also consider an Otterbox, but they seem slightly more unwieldy.

For another case how about ->Aquapaq<- (http://www.styluscentral.com/aqlarwatpdac.html)

Waterproof PDA Classic Case
"I finally did it. I dropped my iPAQ down the toilet... to test my new waterproof case. The Aquapac is a durable little case... it floated, just don't flush" Markos Berndt 8O LOL That's one way to test it!

I was thinking about getting flygrabber (http://shop.store.yahoo.com/lifeview-usa/flygrabbercf.html) for some other things. Though the specs on the FlyJacket (http://www.expansys.es/product.asp?code=FLYJACKET) look better.

That case looks waterproof but I'm not sure how it would survive being dropped from 10 feet with my weight attached to it (not a regular occurrance on my rides, but it has been known ;) ).

There is no way you'd get the flygrabber into the rugged case and my new H5550 won't accommodate it without an expansion jacket, so it actually works out as a more expensive option for the IPAQ than the jacket, which does lots more besides.

Cheers for the info though :)

I'm now a little confused as to whether the flyjacket is compatible with the H5550. Anyone ever tried the two together???
