Off Topic: How do you set up your own discussion forum?

I have just registered my domain and I'm thinking of starting my own site with stuff about digital photography, pocket computers and wireless technology.

I was wondering how to set up a discussion forum - is there open source software that I can use or do I need to get into the realms of having my own web server. Any pointers will be very much appreciated.

Take a look at the Powerd by phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com/) link at the bottom of each and every forum page.
This works fine for forums, for a site you could take a look at PHP-Nuke (http://www.phpnuke.org/).
There are others available.
