Interesting way to get a 4GB microdrive

Here's the deal: Amazon.com has the Nomad Muvo2 Mp3 Player with 4GB CF on pre-order for $201 here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001BXCFS/qid=1075730149//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl147/104-1274762-3033542?v=glance&s=pc&n=507846).

It doesn't appear to be available yet, though. :?

A removable 4GB Hitachi CompactFlash MicroDrive is contained within. You'd have to reformat it and may end up with less memory, but it's a pretty cool deal anyway. Here's a link to some info/pics on how to "rip it out".

Sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but that's been discussed here quite a bit already.

But yes, people have tried it and it seems to work. I wonder when The Muvo people are going to change their design so it's not possible to do that.

Would Muvo really care? If they are selling them at a profit at that price, then they should like it. If anything, their Microdrive supplier might up the price, or better, lower the price for bare microdrives.

You're right. I wonder how they can get those drives plus all the extra electronics in a device like that and sell it for much cheaper than the drive itself and still make a profit. I know volume discounts play a part, but really!
