I wasn't too keen ion the antenna either, but I was told that you get better reseption and longer distances with the antenna. If that's true than the antenna is worth it. I already pre-ordered mine. I just can't wait to get it! I can't handle another day with my e740.

How does its size compare with some of the newer iPaqs and the newer Axim?

I've been meaning to ask....

Is this the same Asus that's a noted mfr of pc motherboards? Just curious as it seems a rather odd divergence for them to start producing PPCs...though I sure do like the specs.

You'll have to look up the iPAQ specs on your own ;-)

Yes they are, and a good PPC Mfr they are too.

 Sounds familiar. They do it here in NYC also, pointless isn't it? Nobody follows this "rule" though... Board of Education argues that cellular phones are a safety hazard. Its hard to imaging somebody getting hurt by a cell phone.

Going back to the topic. I would wait untill its actually widely availabe, just for the price to drop. Although this seems a very good price already.

On the other hand you might want to consider the features. Weather you need wifi and dual slots. If you dont need wifi and hate the antenna (although it looks rather small), then you might want to sacrifice the extra expansion slot and get the 620bt. As far as I can see that is the only difference between A620BT and A716. Or am I missing something? Also, I am not sure, but I think the 620bt is available with either an SD slot or CF slot (?).

It might seem odd, but you can be sure that its top quality. Asus is arguably the best motherboard manufacturer and they sure know how to make quality electronics.

Hmmm... I have been hemming and hawwing about this unit since it was first brough up in the forum. The price isn't bad with the CAN to US exchange right now. I sent of a email to one of my suppliers to see if they can get it in even as a special order, might be able to get a better price.

In that case go for the Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox 610 BT + WLAN. Looking at pictures of this device....both the Asus and the Loox 610 must come from the same manufacturer....ASUS. The Loox with BT + WLAN has 128 Mb RAM and 64 Mb ROM!!

That antenna looks bad. (ill get it taken away at school, theyll think its a cellphone.) Since it is largely the same hardware as the Loox 610 you should be able to unscrew and remove the antenna. The WiFi will still work but the range will be fairly limited.

This is pretty sweet. I'll bet the speed is amazing--every new Pocket PC Asus makes is faster than the last one, and considering that the MyPal A620 is already faster than any non-Asus PDA, and the BT version is faster still, this must be simply blazing.

It's aired with an equally impressive battery life. I might have found a PDA to replace my Jornada 568.

Am I crazy, or is this line of Asus Pocket PC's being rebranded by Casio for sale in Japan? If that's the case, then this is as close to a new Cassiopeia device as we'll get here in the west.

Asus is the OEM for Casio, many of their PPC's have been almost identical.
