I have a Dell Axim X5 with ROM version A00.
Is there any advantage to upgrade the ROM version to a newer one?
If so, where can I find the updated version?

I don't want to sound like a complete jerk, but this thread http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23699 located 2 down from this one, asking the same question, didn't have responses that were helpful? :)

Sorry I missed that message. Can you explain me where to get the new ROM version and how to do the upgrade, please?

Look on the Dell web page. Honestly, does anyone even attempt to be self-sufficient anymore?
Main thing to remember is that you can NOT restore a backup from the old rom to the new rom, so make sure any important data is synched and make sure you have all your install files and reg keys for your programs since you will have to reinstall and reactivate them all. Bonus is that you'll end up with a bunch more RAM then you had, I had 5 more megs freed up after I rebuilt mine.

Thanks for your comments.
I did as suggested, contacted with Dell people who were very attentive; unfortunately the version that Dell USA has is for the Dell Axim 5 in english, and mine happens to be in spanish.
I wouldn't care to have the ROM in enlish, but the people at Dell said that this was impossible.
they suggested to contact the peoplo of Dell for Latin America, who are also located in the USA, and they answered that I had the latest ROM version (A000).
As I learned, not all the Dell representatives are equally prepared or kwnoledged about this ROM upgrade.
Thanks again. 0X
Dell didn't make the upgrade an easy item to find. This question is frequently asked even in Axim specific forum.

I don't see why an english rom wouldn't be able to be installed on your unit, I don't know if I'd trust the Dell people on that one. If you wouldn't mind the English version, you might want to give it a shot, unless someone can give a reason why it wouldn't work.
