I am getting T-Mobile service with the $4.99 T-Zones. Would it be possible to use infrared to make a connection from my Ericsson T610 to my PPC, and be able to browse the internet on it freely? It says unlimited T-Zones, so I figured that it would be unlimited data transfer.

Well, from my experience in just transfering files between my PPC and a friend's phone via infrared was really slow...
Maybe someone else has actually tried this?
Bluetooth would be a better bet... Plus, with infrared, you can't really move much without disrupting the line of sight that it would require.

I used my Axim and SE T616 this way until I got my socket BT card. I would say, based on AT&T's GPRS, that the speed was acceptable considering the limitations of the network. Biggest downside to me was having to lay them on the desk to keep things aligned. The BT Socket card is MUCH better as my phone can be in my pocket, or in my coat in the closet and surf from the kitchen table at my girlfriends (no wifi there yet, but I'm working on it).

using an irda connection has diffuculties that make it so far from being handy. firstly the data transfer speed will be too slow( even the name says fast irda) second you have to put both your phone and the device on a desk or something and when they cant see eachother for a very short time the connection is lost. i suggess using bluetooth connection too because bt has many advantages. put your cellular phone to your pocket and surf the web!
